Professional recognition is not automatic. Many careers carry significant responsibility. Many operate in high-risk, high-consequence environments. But importance alone does not create a profession. A profession is defined differently. It is built on: • structured knowledge • formalised education • recognised frameworks of competence and authority Without these elements, even the most critical work remains… just that. Work. This is where the security industry currently sits. Operating at the centre of increasingly complex, interconnected risk environments, from infrastructure protection to organisational resilience and national-level security. The responsibility is clear. The capability is developing. But the structure remains incomplete. So the question is no longer: “Is security important?” That has already been answered.
