Where Is Security's Body of Knowledge?

Security workers tend to state that security is a science.
I agree.

Repeatedly, discipline is what makes one up during a lengthy shift.
It is what makes sure that protocols are taken when no-one is around.
However, something curious occurs once you look at other disciplines.

The medical science has medicine.
There is engineering science in engineering.
Legal scholarship has centuries of law.
The systems of knowledge systematise the way professionals think, decision making processes and competence building.

The history of the development of security work is different, however.
Much of the knowledge is practice-based.
Learned through experience.
Transmitted through practitioner to practitioner.
And though such experience is worthwhile, it begs a question.
Provided that security is indeed a discipline…

But where is the body of knowledge which structures it?
What place has experience experienced this conflict with knowledge had in security practice?
